In 1998, Jugal composed the title song for his friend Karan Johar’s first film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. This song became a super hit and went on to become a Dharma Productions theme song. He then went on to serve as writer and director for the 2008 computer animated film Roadside Romeo. This film was produced jointly by Yash Raj Films and Walt Disney Studios, and featured the voices of Saig Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Javed Jaffrey. It received very negative reviews from critics but went on to win the National Film Award for Best Animated Film.
