Sushant Singh Rajput

Born January 21, 1986, Sushant Singh Rajput was a rising bollywood star who got his first acting debut as a mechanic on the soap opera TV series, Pavitra Rishta. At the tender age of 16, the death of his mother left Rajput devastated and was the same year that he moved from the town of his birth, Patna, to Delhi. A mechanical engineer by profession, Rajput had no interest in being an actor. While a student at Delhi Technological University, he enrolled in dance classes. As time went on, Rajput started participating more in theatre and dance, and rarely had time for studies which eventually led him to drop out of university. It was during this time that the idea of acting first came to him as several of his dance peers were interested in pursuing an acting career and were taking Barry John’s drama classes. Within a few months of joining dance and theatre classes, Rajput was selected to join a dance troupe. He went on to perform for several more dance troupes at various highly publicised events. Then in order to get his break into acting Rajput moved to Mumbai. There he was cast in a TV commercial for Nestle Munch, which went on to become popular throughout India. In 2008, he was finally invited by Balaji Telefilms’ casting team and was given a role in the TV series Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil. His subsequent performance in Pavitra Rishta was his break into mainstream Bollywood. He then landed his first major role in the movie Kai Po Che which was a hit and achieved critical and commercial success. His second major hit film was MS Dhoni: The Untold Story which further increased his fame and also went on to achieve critical and commercial success. Over the course of his career, Sushant Singh Rajput was nominated for 9 awards and won 9 others. Sadly, on June 14, 2020 Rajput’s life came to an end as he committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan in his home in Bandra, Mumbai. It is reported that he had been suffering from depression for about six months, however no suicide note has been found.

In memory of this amazing personality, we will be having a Sushant Singh Rajput special from 10-11am EST and 5-6pm EST.
