Sonam Kapoor, Born June 9, 1985, is an Indian film actress. Being the daughter of actor Anil Kapoor, she has a lot of cousins, uncles, and aunts in the film industry. Although it may seem that she is highly privileged, that is not the case. Her first job was as a waitress at the age of 15. As a teenager, Kapoor, “struggled with weight, was unhealthy, and had bad skin.” Her career in Bollywood was riddled with failures as her first film Saawariya alongside Ranbir Kapoor was a major critical and commercial failure despite being the first Indian feature film to be produced by a Hollywood studio, Sony Pictures Entertainment. Her first commercial success came with the film I Hate Luv Storys which was released in 2010. After that Sonam Kapoor was able to acquire several supporting roles in some of the biggest commercial successes in Bollywood, such as in, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013), Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015), and Sanju (2018). Sonam Kapoor also supports the awareness of Breast Cancer and LGBTQ rights. Over the course of her career, Sonam Kapoor has won a total of 10 awards and has been nominated for 26 awards.
